Jennifer Vandenberg

Co-Founder, Writer, and Editor

After earning my Master of Science in Science Education at Montana State University, Maddy and I started our first science podcast, with the hope that MooseEel Media would grow into a social media science network. I currently live in Lake Havasu, Arizona, with my husband of thirty years and a 20-pound orange cat named Chewie. We are here to take care of my aging parents. My patronus is a scorpion mouse, because I am small yet mighty, and live in the desert.

Co-Founder, Artist, and Marketer

Hello lovelies. This is Maddy, the smaller gremlin of the two founders of MooseEel Media. I first met Jen at Montana State University when I saw her on one of her first days in the dish room and decided that she would be my friend. It’s been several years into this decision and Jen still hasn’t been able to get rid of me. Now we’re on a journey together creating our first company and podcast. I’m so excited. If you want to find out more about me, feel free to listen to our podcast.

Discover A Single Light

Jennifer did her master’s thesis on podcasting. To gather data on whether podcasts increase interest in science (they do), she had to create a podcast. The name, A Single Light, is from a quote by Isaac Asimov.

“There is a single light of science, and to brighten it anywhere is to brighten it everywhere.”

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, A Single Light is now the first podcast from MooseEel Media. The podcast has two different types of content. “Sparks” are short episodes that briefly cover a topic, give background to the business, or clarify a point in the longer episodes. The longer versions are part of a 10-session series. Each series focuses on a single topic, a single light, you might say. The sessions are each about sixteen minutes.
